Nothing is set until you accept

When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may set analytics cookies. Until you accept, no analytics cookies are placed and nothing is requested from Google — the Google Analytics script is not even downloaded. Rejecting is a single click and carries the same weight as accepting.

Analytics cookies are not strictly necessary, so under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, as implemented in Cyprus, we must ask for your consent before setting them. Consent is our legal basis for this processing, and you are free to refuse without losing access to any part of the site.

What we store on your device

We record your answer to the banner in your browser's local storage, under the key jenus-cookie-consent. This is not a cookie, it is never sent to us or anyone else, and it exists only so we stop asking you the same question. Storing your choice is strictly necessary to respect it, so it does not itself require consent.

If you accept analytics, Google Analytics then sets the following cookies on your device:

• _ga — distinguishes one visitor from another. Expires two years after it is set.
• _ga_N5REX7KLZF — keeps the state of your current visit for our specific property. Expires two years after it is set.

What we use analytics for

We look at aggregate figures: which pages are read, which are ignored, how people arrive, and where they leave. We use this to decide what to write and what to fix. We do not use analytics to identify you, to build a profile of you, or to advertise to you.

Advertising and personalisation signals are switched off. We ask Google not to use this data for advertising, ad personalisation or ad user data, and we do not run any advertising or retargeting tags on this site.

Changing or withdrawing your choice

Select “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page to reopen the banner and change your answer. If you accepted and then reject, we delete the Google Analytics cookies from your browser straight away and stop loading the script on subsequent pages.

You can also delete cookies directly in your browser at any time. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and it does not affect the lawfulness of processing that already took place.

Who receives the data

If you accept, Google Analytics data is processed by Google Ireland Limited and may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States under the safeguards described in our privacy policy. If you reject, no data reaches Google at all.

Strictly necessary security cookies

Our hosting and security provider may, if we ever enable additional protection against automated abuse, set a strictly necessary cookie to distinguish legitimate visitors from bots. Cookies of that kind are exempt from the consent requirement because they are essential to delivering the service you requested. No such cookie is in use at the date shown above.

When you submit the contact form

Sending the contact form transmits your submission to our form provider. That request is made only when you press send, and it sets no cookie in your browser. Our privacy policy explains who processes that data and for how long.

When you follow a link to another site

Our footer links to our profiles on LinkedIn and Facebook. Those are ordinary links, not embedded widgets, so nothing is sent to those platforms while you read our pages. Once you click through, the destination site applies its own cookies and privacy practices, over which we have no control.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you review and delete cookies, block them from particular sites, or refuse them altogether. Blocking cookies will not stop this website from working — the only thing you lose is the analytics we use to improve it.

Changes to this policy

If we introduce further cookies or use them for new purposes, we will update this page and ask for your consent again before setting them. We will not quietly widen what you have already agreed to.
